Album Mash-up: Capital America

For my “Album Mashup” class project, I was given the vinyl album covers for Nancy Wilson’s “How Glad I Am” and America’s “Homecoming.” The project required me to scan both covers, inside and out, deconstruct all the imagery and typography, and create something entirely new. It was an exciting challenge to work with such different album covers and merge them into one cohesive design. To complete the project, I had to create various elements such as a tour poster, a vinyl hub sticker, and other merchandise in addition to the vinyl cover art itself. The challenge was not only to make the design visually appealing but also to represent both albums in a meaningful way. During the project, I enjoyed experimenting with the different textures, colors, and assets to create a unique and eye-catching design. The outcome was a vibrant and engaging artwork that critiques capitalism in America, taking inspiration from the punk and rap movements.
